Water Resource Management
From Rock to Remediation.
From Rock to Remediation.
Co-organised by the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Lille (largest French university and in the top 100 European most innovative universities of the Times Higher Education ranking) and the International Academy (summer university for international students in Hauts-de-France), the research-oriented summer school Hydro 2024 is a strong 60-hour training programme focusing on the fundamental aspects of hydrogeology and water treatment in line with top-tier research centres and leading experts in the field. Particular emphasis will be laid on the quantification of groundwater flow (distribution, velocity and flux of groundwater), its impact on surface water quality and the processes that affect groundwater geochemistry (water pollution in particular). There will be example applications for water resources, environmental impact, industrial wastewater treatment process and social development.
Student projects will cover the socio-economical and environmental aspect of water management, and explore how water is becoming an essential element in urban development projects or in the management of rural areas.
Midway between Paris, London and Brussels, at the heart of a high-performance academic and economic hub that makes innovation a priority, Hydro 2024 will provide high-standard English-taught classes, scientific immersion in the field, as well as an introduction to research through a supervised project.
A smart opportunity to broaden your international experience under enjoyable conditions with fellow students worldwide.
Coordinator of the scientific programme: Prof. Arnaud GAUTHIER, Civil Engineering and Geo-Environment Laboratory, LGCgE.
